The founder of Empowered Stories, Rebecca Sosa brings 15 years of experience working in film distribution, business development and impact strategy.

A heart-centered advisor who takes inspiration from her Mexican-American and Indigenous storytelling roots, Rebecca is acutely attuned to the unique obstacles faced by artists from underrepresented communities.

She understands the value of authenticity and representation in media, and is passionate about telling socially impactful stories and empowering diverse artistic voices. She was motivated to found Empowered Stories after years of watching great films struggle to find distribution, their truths left untold.

As Head of Digital Distribution at A24, Rebecca managed the digital marketing and sales for the studio’s film catalogue released on VOD and DVD, including films like Spring Breakers and Academy Award-winner Ex Machina.

Rebecca also worked at Sundance Institute as Producer of Catalyst and Women’s Public Programs, where she coached and mentored dozens of filmmakers.
